An ethereal galactic silver Buddha.
I photographed this rare silver Buddha in Mandalay, Myanmar, inside the Shwekyimyint Phaya Pagoda at 3:54pm on June 25, 2010. Years later, during a seizure of artistic whim, I digitally added a few strokes of symbolic tribal body paint to the original artwork. I own the blue. For this animation, I pixelated the image with three-dimensional spikes that pulsate in rhythm with the in-and-out zoom motion.
My kinetic animated creations explore motion, vibration, energy, gesture, and juxtaposition while frequently incorporating geometric or architectonic background images captured during my travels to more than one hundred countries. Typically, I employ a modular matrix grid arrangement adding occasional hand-drawn brush strokes to create designs controlled by honed visual perspectives that integrate balance and proportion with buoyancy and often with a bit of added humor.
