The SKULL represents many different ideas. The SKULL may represent transformation, wealth, power, ancestors, strength, protection and fear. To encounter a SKULL is to face mortality. It is the symbol of death, the great equalizer and the futility of earthly pleasures and pursuits. The SKULL reminds us that flowers wilt, fruits rot and no amount of beauty or wealth can save you from death. The SKULL has a special relationship with art in that art only exists because death exists.
