After 20+ years as a 3D artist I am still working to learn my craft every single day. For this piece I spent nearly two weeks learning how to use Houdini to model and render a spiral galaxy. I went through countless iterations (and much frustration) before I was happy. The foreground scene, however, came together relatively quickly using my trusty VUE renderer. Admiring the heavens from a tropical shoreline is a favorite theme of mine. I feel this piece is an even blend of new techniques and classic DB.
