As we close our eyes and drift off to sleep, our minds make sense of our thoughts and experiences. We travel to far away places and have extraordinary encounters. The world melts away but our bodies remain.
Working from a photographic reference this was the first piece I utilised anything other than my putty rubber to create the work. A steel ruler assisted in guiding the architectural lines of the window which create a stark contrast to the soft flow of the sleeper’s skin. I sat at the drawing board for around 15 hours to complete it.
Soft pastel and charcoal on paper.
