Began creation in January 2021 and finished in March, this animation was a passion project inspired by the song "Palm Angels" by Kid Trash and was an exercise in trying to translate exactly what was in my mind into 3D, taking over 60hrs of render time on a Macbook Pro to perfect the animation (~40min per frame + multiple re-renders)
"Palm Angel" draws inspiration from Californian sunsets, pin-up models, dance music, wabi-sabi, and the work of Hajime Sorayama, and was my first time ever using a character model or simulating wind. The extreme amount of time it took to complete this animation was what made me realize I could no longer use a Macbook for my work and I would need a new computer to reach the level of quality I want to attain, marking the beginning of the end of the "Macbook Era" of my work.
