"ADHD Universe" is the first work in a series of paintings dedicated to mental disorders. I know from my own experience that the more we talk out loud about our «features», the more we validate our condition.⠀
"ADHD Universe" displays the chaos that occurs daily in the head of a person with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. The flow of thoughts, that sometimes are very destructive and unbearable, hyperfixation on one subject/person, "leaving" reality at the most inaproppriate moment, lack of concentration, difficulties in learning and formulating one's thoughts, these are "little wonders sending me so far away". They send me to another universe, which can make real life much more difficult. All neurodiversity people who face misunderstanding ("how can you be so irresponsible/stupid", devaluation ("come on, you're just lazy, Just concentrate And do it"), and condemnation because of their diagnosis, which Interfere them from doing daily things, , understand what i am talking about. We cannot control our diagnosis, but we can control our recovery/remission, which can improve quality of life. And any recovery is more productive if it goes through self-acceptance and love, but not self-hate and condemnation.
In addition:
-"little wonders sending me so far away" - a line from the David Bowie's song "Little Wonders"
- in the upper right corner of the picture it says: "Mom, lookE I drew the floor!". This inscription covers several sheets of brown paint drawn by my 3 y.o daughter, who said this Exact phrase, showing me her drawings.
-the next picture of the collection will be dedicated to bipolar disorder.
