“Project: Another Earth”
There exists a parallel Earth in a parallel universe that is quite similar to our Earth. On that Another Earth, in the middle of where the Pacific Ocean would be on our Earth, lies a large continent called “Eden”. The people living in Eden do not fight, but live in harmony with animals, plants and spirits. At the center of the continent, a gigantic sacred tree called “Molekumu (the source)” rises majestically into the sky as to protect the land. And as the center of the continent’s circulation, all the living things of Eden receive various graces from the tree.
In Eden, every year on Spring Equinox, a festival is held in which priests dressed in special garments offer prayers for the sacred tree. The special garments were woven by spirits using fibers from the sacred tree, and people called them “The Wind of the Source.” When one wears the "wind of the source," which is as soft and light as delicate Japanese washi paper, one becomes one with the sacred tree and even the Earth, drawing out the true power of human nature, instantly healing people’s injuries and illnesses, and even sending out countless lightning bolts down to the ground.
私たちが住む地球とよく似た地球がパラレルワールドに存在している。そのもう 一つの地球には、私たちの地球の太平洋に当たる場所に大きな大陸が横たわっており、人々はその大陸を「エデン」と呼ぶ。そこに生きる人々は、争うことなく、 動植物や精霊と調和の中で暮らしているという。その大陸の中心に「モレクム (根源)」という巨大な聖樹が、土地を守護するように堂々と聳(そび)え立っている。そしてその聖樹は、大陸の循環の中心として、生きとしいけるものに様々な恩恵をもたらしている。 またエデンでは毎年春分になると、特殊な衣を纏った神官たちによって聖樹に祈 りを捧げる祭が執り行われる。聖樹の繊維を用いて精霊たちによって織り上げら れたその特殊な衣は「源の風」と名付けられた。繊細な紙のようにやわらかで軽い「源の風」を纏うと、聖樹、さらには地球とも一体となり、人間本来の持つ霊性が最大限に引き出されると言われ、人々の怪我や病をたちまちに治したり、大地に無数の雷（いかずち）を降らすことすら可能なのだという。

"Taiyo Okamoto"
Taiyo Okamoto grew up by the ocean in Karatsu, Japan, where he often spent his childhood days twilighting on the seawall; dreamily gazing at the vast sky, crashing waves, and flying fish. He has lived in New York City since 2002.
Working across mediums, Taiyo creates chigiri-e inspired paper art from small works to large installations, paintings, photography, digital art and writings.
He appears in the film "HANAGATAMI" directed by legendary Japanese filmmaker Nobuhiko Obayashi.
