The mansion built in 1896 in the Sarıkamış district of Kars. Built from a single piece of wood without the use of nails, is still in the upper Sarıkamış region. It consists of 2 separate buildings as a hunting lodge and a main kiosk.
Thanks to the concrete columns, the heating of the standing structure is provided by the heat provided through these columns. This heating system is called "peç". The hunting lodge is the place where valuable guests are hosted. The main mansion was used as a hospital and palace at various times.
It is popularly known as Katerina's mansion. However, this mansion, which was built during the reign of Tsar Nicholas II, is misnamed. This mansion, which is thought to have been built for his wife Katherina, was built as a rehabilitation center for the Tsar's sick son, Aleksi, and also as a hunting lodge used by the family in winter and summer. This Mansion is known as the Tsar's Hunting Lodge. Most of the Turkish films of the Tsarist period were shot in and around this mansion (Wikipedia).
Unfortunately, the mansion is not preserved well. With all the writings and drawings on the wall, originality is lost through the years.
