Sanctum means holy in Latin, and a sanctuary is a "refuge or safety from pursuit, persecution, or other danger". For me this series is about exploring the concept rather than the reality of a shelter. These little huts made of sticks don't offer much shelter at all, and the thin, white cloth doesn't provide any warmth. But finding a safe space can even be a mental space - an inner sanctuary full of warmth and love. For me the forest is my shelter and refuge from all the stresses of life in London. I go there when I need to reconnect with myself and nature.
