Willows are often associated with immortality and, when used on a tombstone, weeping willow trees can symbolize life after death and the resurrection of the soul.
E.g., in Greek mythology Orpheus carried a willow branch with him when he travelled to the Underworld to rescue Eurydice from Hades.
For me personally, as an artist, this artwork is about grief and that we somehow live on through nature after we passed away.
