Colorado 2018.
‘Another day in Paradise’ as ranchers head out to find roaming cattle under azure skies. They can be gone for up to three days as the area to be covered is huge and requires expert knowledge as rattlesnakes, mountain lions and coyotes are among the residents.
Supplies are very light. Water has to be found on the way. Perhaps some jerky and a blanket as there can be no weighing the horse down with comforts. The horses are very familiar with the terrain and can sense the dangers ahead of the riders. More than one cowboy owes his life to an alert horse.
The privately owned ranches are a disappearing feature of the historic West. This project set out to capture the lifestyle and traditions before they are eradicated forever.
