In his youth, tribal elders bestowed upon him the revered name, Thabiti, which in Kenyan indigenous societies means "a true man." His strength and prowess on the battlefield won him peer group admiration. And his relentless spirit to protect his people won their hearts. Using burnt ash and clay pigments, his tribe celebrates the human form in bold strokes of body paint accentuated with minimal ornamentation using feathers, cowrie shells, and animal teeth transforming their nude bodies into walking masterpieces of artistic display.
