The Eyo Festival, traditional to the Yoruba people of Lagos, Nigeria. The costumed dancers known as the Masquerades traditionally acted as an escort for the royalty and the coronation of a crowned monarch.
The white clad Eyo Masquerades represents the spirit of the dead and the dance, both traditionally and in modern representation, always brought a sense of freight to spectators.
The passion behind this performance is both beautiful and scary and has continued to be a parallel representation of our society in many ways.
Eyo Festival is a 1:1 18”L x 24”W Acrylic Paint on Watercolor Paper. The collector of this piece would have the option to receive the 1:1 physical painting shipped worldwide. A high edition version is also provided to the collector.
