I met Walter Fuentes Arias in 2010 while looking for new communities on the outskirts of Lima. Heading south on the Panamerican Highway, I found what looked to be a very new settlement. I made a few photographs of the landscape, and eventually I met Walter. He was the president of the Associación Los Angeles de San Antonio, which he explained was only 20 days old at the time. He was very proud of what he and the other residents had built. I returned five years later, and while I couldn’t find Walter on that day, the community had grown considerably.
