Dear Diary,
it's the new year. I'll save us all the looking back and forward and focus on how the last one ended. We woke up at my parents' house - their new one, not the one I grew up in - after finally having made the trip the day prior as our daughter was feeling well again.
We started the day lazily. Reading only interrupted by everyone taking turns playing a role in a daughter's games as she's claiming the new home. New rooms to hide in, new corners to run around, and new couch mountains for her animals to explore and as always books to read.
The year ended calmly. Just the three of us with some Indian take-out and some "Krapfen" this year. My parents already had plans since we decided on driving down spontaneously.
Everyone else headed to bed already or is still out and I can see the fireworks outside as I am writing this. "Fireflies Made out of Dust" is playing and mixing nicely with the booms and crackles outside.
