Photography (and art in general) is best when it evokes an emotional response. I was in Mexico City and met Erick and Dave there and bore witness to these amazing art reveals. This photo brings me back to the room, the sounds, lights, and how I felt there.
I can feel the trepidation of a collector waiting on his/her reveal. I can sense Erick's excitement as well, his pride to honor Barragán in Mexico City and also his humble, inclusive, and welcoming approach to the people he met.
Credit to Dave for capturing this beautiful, poignant moment. He is so creative, so talented, and he finds ways to capture these moments that jump through the lens. I've always wanted a 1/1 piece of his and couldn't be happier that this is the one.
Beyond the art, I also believe this photo captures a seminal moment in the generative art movement. There is also something special happening right now in this space.
From Marfa (sad to have missed it) to Mexico City (thanks to Bright Moments for putting on a remarkable event) and Miami, a community is coming together and finding momentum. I believe we will look back on these events as catalysts for a new generation of creators and collectors.
