Breathe deeply. There is something unique about a city park. The way the sounds of a city are present, but muted. Almost dulled, like the dampening effect of a snowstorm. In those moments, our senses awaken to the world around us. We focus and see things previously unseen.
My experience for the past several years in generative art has been similar. Patterns and beauty all around. Nature and technology combining to create something unexpected and delightful at the same time.
When bringing together artist and art, that experience elevates further. Meeting Daniel, and so many fantastic artists and collectors, in Mexico City was a truly unique experience. To sit on a picnic blanket, to enjoy a Garibaldi pastry with the artist and to see the work animate for the first time brought such joy. A deeper understanding and connection.
And so, my first etch is a thank you.
A thank you to Daniel for this beautiful piece that captures so perfectly that feeling of entering a city park, of awakening to a new world of possibility and inspiring me to collect more, create more, and embrace this world of art all around me.
A thank you to all the artists I have collected and to those I have not. I may have limited means, but my appreciation for your art is boundless. In hundreds of years, past our time here, your work will continue on. The immense power of creation, etched into history. Like nature, it must be cared for to persist. But around every corner, there is beauty capable of inspiring awe now and for generations to come.
