George Floyd was killed on May 25, 2020 at the age of 46 in Minneapolis during an attempted arrest. The following days saw protests, first start in Minneapolis and then throughout the month of June spread across 2,000 cities and over 60 countries. Demonstrations in some cities saw instances of arson and looting after violent clashes with law enforcement.
The protests have led to legislative proposals intended to reform police policies.
