Varenne is an Italian trotter horse, known to be the best trotter of all time. He was considered the dark horse in trotter racing; always coming up from behind before eventually going on to become a legendary racing horse. Originally, he was deemed to have no future as a race horse due to a perceived handicap, and was sold by his first owner after his first race. However, Varenne went on to win 62 races across 7 countries, set world records, and was inducted into the Harness Racing Museum & Hall of Fame, an honor usually restricted to American horses only. Varenne, also known as "Il Capitano" by his beloved fans, captured the heart and spirit of the racing world, becoming a racehorse whose name will forever reign supreme in the history of harness racing.
