At the end, we all actually exist only through our relationship with other human beings. Analogously, the idea that the world is made up of objects whose existence is independent of observations conflicts with quantum theory, the most successful theory in physics.According to relational quantum mechanics, an interpretation of quantum theory introduced by Carlo Rovelli to reconcile quantum mechanics with general relativity, the only reality is given by events, which are the result of interactions between distinct quantum systems.
The sentence at the nanoscale: “AND EVENTS ARE MADE OF INTERACTIONS THAT WAEVE THE WORLD” conveys the concept that the world is the net of these interactions, the relationships that are established when physical objects interact.
The sentence itself made of electronic quantum probabilities just results from the interaction of an extremely sharp stylus with the sample surface.
Before reaching the nanoscale quantum world, this artwork also displays images of graphite on paper obtained using an optical microscope.Â
This artwork represents the magnificent result of interactions, from humans to individual atoms. What unites the quantum world to the human sphere? Why are we all connected? Why is reality relational? Do relationships represent the only true reality?
