Today I want to present to you the Shanghai Tower, one of the best and most popular shots I've taken in my 11 years as an urban explorer and one of our most daring climbs.
In order to reach the top of the tower, we planned everything in detail and chose the suitable date. Chinese New Year, it was January, 2014 and we arrived in Shanghai. It wasn't too difficult to get inside, after climbing to the 100th floor we found ourselves in the clouds, the city was covered with a heavy fog and we couldn't see anything. We had decided to wait for the clouds to clear before we climbed the crane. Who would have thought that we would have to stay at the construction site for almost 24 hours and spend the night there?
Around sunset, the fog lifted and we climbed up on the crane and took this photo. After that photo, and after the video had been posted on Web 2.0, the Chinese authorities put us on a wanted list and tried to find us in all kinds of ways. They showed us on local TV channels and the day after the video had been published we woke up famous.
Lucky for us, we managed to leave the country before the fuss started and we will never return to China.
