"We put ourselves and the inner workings of our minds out in the open, and for what? To be scooped up by a rich investor who does not read into the art for all that they care for is the value you provide them, we are not artists... We are trading cards."
This piece was inspired by some personal experiences, combined with things happening to artists around me.
Friends who when they joined the space were ecstatic and delighted to create, and now, they are constantly talked about due to their floor, changes in price more than their actual work. In my eyes it made the artists sound almost as if their existence was seen as an asset, rather than an artist, It just bothered me
I think people buying and selling work is great, but I just dislike seeing people talking about price changes rather than the beauty of the art
THEY ONLY LOVE YOU WHEN YOU MAKE THEm MONEY.
