In the 70’s Sid and Marty Krofft felt that a new TV series was needed to fill a broadcast spot for Children.
H.R. Fluf N Stuff was born. They were sure that this was going to be a winner. But no sooner had they announced the project in the industry mags than Bugs Bunny over at Warner’s took a Cease and Desist out against them. Bugs wanted to be the only star bunny on the TV at the time. (Besides those pesky Playboy Bunnies down at the Mansion!) So, Sid and Marty were left with no choice but to reinvent their show and the wonderful and instant classic that is H.R. PufnStuf was born.
The Bunny that was going to play the lead for H.R. Fluf N Stuff can be found these days at the main street bar down in Reno three nights a week. As he is showing his years - he’s having to dye his fur orange and has a collection of comedy pirate hats that have become an important part of his schtick. Tip him if you see him.
