'An Artist's Herbarium I' is about the inspiration an artist gets from nature. A flower can be seen in the middle of the composition. Thereby the basic forms; the circle and squares represent the basic elements one needs when creating.
The idea of the Renaissance Humanist Leon Battista Alberti (1404-1472), that square represent the 'earthly' and the circles the 'heavenly' fits this artwork perfectly. Because (according to the artist of 'An Artist's Herbarium I') both is needed in the vocabulary of the artist.
As the art historical tradition talks about 'a painters painting', this can be called: 'an artist's artwork', because well... the physical presence of an artwork, like that of a painting, is not as direct as on the blockchain anymore.
