This image is part of my nude self-portrait project, I AM: For the Love of Nature, created in the American West during my 60's. 🌿
This image was created with an iPhone 7 Plus in the Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park, in Northern California. The poem literally describes my experience: this fallen tree called to me. As it was only 300 steps from the parking lot, I resisted disrobing. After hiking for over 90 minutes, and photographing myself with other fallen trees, this One still called to me as we were leaving the park late in the day. I only had my iPhone. I chose to surrender to nature so I can share this message to be present with nature, with you.

Resting in the Redwoods
As I entered
the old-growth forest
the wood nymphs
whispered my name.
I kept walking.
They kept talking.
“Here, now?” I asked.
“What are you waiting for?”
they answered.
“This is The Present.”
