Visit the space at oncyber.io/destinations/mauerchurch. Church is the fifth block in MAUER. The complex history of religion in divided Berlin ranges from repression and resistance to co-option and infiltration. To symbolize this struggle the space draws its main architectural inspiration from Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church - a striking landmark and a monument against war and destruction. Originally built in the 1890s, a bombing in 1943 caused the main spire to break and the roof to collapse. Architect Egon Eiermann integrated the ruin in his design for the new church completed in 1963.
MAUER Church consists of concrete honeycomb elements with stained glass inlays. Inside the rectangle nave, the stained glass produces a rich blue light and an atmosphere of meditative calm.
This spiritual memorial against war and destruction contains 18 showcase points for NFTs and two portal options to connect to other Mauer spaces.
