A kamidana is a shelf used in the Shinto religion of Japan to worship gods at home. It typically contains a miniature shrine to enshrine the deities, including the Ise Jingu shrine, Ujigami talismans, and other revered shrine objects. God mirrors and sacred tools like the Sakaki stand are placed on either side of the kamidana. Offerings such as rice and salt are placed on a small plate, while sake and water are placed in special bottles.
