20 years had passed since the apocalypse.
A cataclysmic nuclear blast devastated the earth, leveling cities, transforming the climate and wiping out 99% of the human population.
The world became a barren wasteland, void of colour and life.
Until now.
Avril looked on in curiosity at the strange green thing poking out of the rubble. Over the following days she watched it grow, creeping upward before finally blooming into a bright, beautiful flower. Soon many plants began to emerge from the concrete until there was more green than grey, a garden in a ghetto. The sulphurous air became sweet with the scent of wild flowers. Birds sang, insects buzzed and animals thrived.
We thought humans had destroyed the earth. Yet nature was strong, determined and unstoppable.
This wave of colour and life spread across the land, burying our past mistakes, creating a chance for the creatures of the earth to begin again anew.
