I read a quote once which said
“If you want to walk fast, walk alone. But if you want to walk far, walk together.”
This quote is intended to demonstrate the value of community and relationships. Sometimes it seems like working with others slows you down, and it does to an extent, in that you have go at everyone else's pace and work out disagreements and take everyone else's needs into consideration. Being on your own is often simpler, and faster. You only need to concern yourself with you.
However, a group brings resilience. While relying on yourself might seem to work better in the short term, it is the community you build with others that will help you keep going and allow you to overcome the obstacles you cannot face on your own. It'll be slower, but it's what will get you far in the end.
