Born of the Prometheus Sporedrop, this fungi is named after Hephaestus, god of blacksmithing and technology. Legend goes that Prometheus stole fire from the forge of Hephaestus on Mt. Olympus, giving it to humanity for their use as a tool. This gift represented the next phase in human potential, in which the inspired minds of humanity developed new tools to lead themselves out of darkness. The early Mushrohm Tribes used the Bearded Heph Mushrohm as a firestarter. Its thick molten cap protects and cools the high-energy tubules beneath, though when this cap is removed the red hot tubules are known to spontaneously combust into flame.
