Live Networks (Mainnets)

These are the production networks where real value is transacted. Choose your network based on your project's needs.

Ethereum

L1 / EVM

The gold standard for NFTs and DeFi. Maximum security and decentralization, but higher gas fees.

Native Currency
ETH
Transaction Speed
~12s

Solana

L1 / Non-EVM

Known for blazing fast speeds and almost zero costs. Requires a Solana wallet (like Phantom).

Native Currency
SOL
Transaction Speed
< 1s

Base

L2 Rollup

Incubated by Coinbase. Base offers extremely low fees and inherits Ethereum's security.

Native Currency
ETH
Transaction Speed
~2s

Arbitrum One

L2 Rollup

The leading Layer 2. Be careful: You pay gas in ETH. The $ARB token is for governance only.

Native Currency
ETH
Transaction Speed
~2s

Optimism

L2 / OP Stack

A superchain ecosystem. Be careful: You pay gas in ETH. The $OP token is for governance only.

Native Currency
ETH
Transaction Speed
~2s

Polygon PoS

Sidechain

An established scaling solution. Uses POL/MATIC for gas. Widely used for loyalty programs.

Native Currency
POL
Transaction Speed
~3s

Ronin

Gaming Chain

The blockchain built specifically for gaming (Axie Infinity, Pixels). Optimized for millions of transactions.

Native Currency
RON
Transaction Speed
~3s

Confusion Alert: Gas Tokens vs. Governance Tokens

It is very common for new users to bridge $ARB tokens to Arbitrum, or $OP tokens to Optimism, thinking they need them to pay for gas. This is incorrect!

  • Arbitrum & Optimism are "Layer 2 Rollups." They are built on top of Ethereum, so they use ETH for gas to maintain security alignment.
  • The $ARB and $OP tokens are strictly for voting on protocol decisions (Governance).

Rule of Thumb: If it is a Layer 2 (Base, Arb, OP), you almost always need ETH for gas.

Which network should I choose?

NetworkTypeGas CostBest For...
EthereumL1$$$ HighHigh-value art, Blue-chip collections
SolanaNON-EVM$ TinyMass scale, DePIN, Payments
Base / OP / ArbL2$ LowDeFi, Daily Mints, General purpose
RoninSidechain$ LowWeb3 Gaming
PolygonSidechain$ Very LowLoyalty, Airdrops

If you have ETH on Ethereum but want to use Base, Optimism, or Arbitrum, you must 'Bridge' your assets.
