This image was created over ten years ago now, on a foggy morning in Portland's Japanese Garden. The large trees above had rained down multi colored leaves and while enjoying their beauty I got an idea. To capture this image I had to lie on my stomach with the camera just inches above the ground. I shot the image with a large aperture to create an out of focus foreground, showcasing the Japanese maple standing in the fog on the hill behind. To this day it is one of my favorite images and has inspired many photographers at the garden since I first shared it.
