A Few Things You May not Know Relating to SpongeBob
~SpongeBob SquarePants original name was Spongeboy.
~Creative Director Derek Drymon, wanted SpongeBob with
a "young, boyish" attitude, & his voice half child/half adult.
~A new species of mushroom found by a Biologist,
named it, 'Spongiforms Squarepantsii in 2011.
~The Writers were influenced by Science Fiction author, Ray Bradbury's essay collection, 'Zen and Art of Writing'; a writing exercise that helped generate many plots for the movies.
~A conservative group labelled the animated show 'Homosexual propaganda'. The SpongeBob staff said they'd consider all of the characters "asexual", in which they believe, the attitude of SpongeBob is about tolerance.
~One of the animated shorts created for the show was "SpongeBob HempPants"; a not-too-subtle re-imagining of SpongeBob SquarePants if the characters were shaped like marijuana or the paraphernalia necessary to enjoy the drug.
