EARTH #1 - Rivers of Life
Gathering in mountains, trickling down slopes, merging streams, feeding lakes, and running to oceans, rivers are the feeders of earth, both destroying and giving it life. Seen here, earth feeds off these essential lifelines, clinging to their ebbs and flows.
I created this piece mid-2020 while on a 3-week project in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Nearing the end of my solo project, sleeping mostly in my car, I found a hidden place to camp beside this river, where I spent the evening shooting the flooded banks. I arose before dawn and launched my drone knowing that the sun’s first touch of the mountaintops would make an incredible scene. This piece is a vertical panorama taken with several photographs. Having dreamed of this location for years, it was an enormously lucky to catch it in such a beautiful state on my very first morning.
