He knew that this was the Squid King, ruler of all the squids in the sea. "I-I can't believe I'm talking to you," the boy stammered. "I-I mean, I'm just a shrimp fisherman's son. I-I don't deserve this."
"Nonsense," the Squid King said, his voice booming. "You have been chosen for a reason. I can sense great power within you."
"But what can I do?" the boy asked.
"You must help me free my people," the Squid King said. "They are being held captive by a terrible monster, and only you can stop it."
The boy gulped. He didn't know if he could do something like that, but he knew he had to try. "I'll do it," he said. "I'll free your people."
The Squid King smiled. "I knew you would," he said. "Now go, and may the squids be with you."
