Leon Clethlpester had been in deep space approximately four earth-years longer than was recommended (or even thought possible). While he had been in hyb-sleep most of the time, his joints and bones had nonetheless distended and warped. His skin had become stretched and there were patches of unhealthy color on his face, like bruises on the flesh of an alien fruit. It gave him almost a clownish appearance (although there was certainly not anything funny about having been lost in space for nearly a decade…)
