Looks Rare is an interactive crypto literary performance art installation by Walt Reunamo and Kalen Iwamoto. First exhibited in Arium in the fall of 2021 as part of the VerticalCrypto Art resident artist auction, the original installation explored the dualities of creation and destruction, rarity and abundance by asking visitors to vote for one of the two words suspended in the air: DROP and BURN. Votes for BURN fuelled the fire surrounding the word burn, while votes for DROP caused water to drip from the word drop, thereby transforming the installation into a visual expression of the visitors' values and opinions vis-a-vis these concepts.
After the voting period, the diptych was divided: the side with the most votes minted as an NFT with number of editions corresponding to votes, and the side with fewer votes minted as a 1/1, and airdropped to the collector who won the "Literarity" NFTat the VCA auction.
"Looks Rare — DROP" is the 3D object of the DROP side of the Looks Rare diptych — in its final state, after voting had closed — in its original Arium space environment.
