Reflections of Luminescence

This piece features two nearly identical women in profile, symbolising a dialogue between the self and the inner self. After moving to the Netherlands, I was deeply inspired by the Dutch Golden Age paintings, especially the iconic ruffled collars often seen in their works. I dressed the protagonist in my creation with a futuristic outfit adorned with these timeless collars. The hibiscus, a familiar flower from my homeland, plays a key role. By merging the ruffled collars and hibiscus in a metallic aesthetic, this work weaves together past and present, East and West.
