Totalbanana-20240828 was created on the occasion of the Shaka Event in Biarritz on 28 August 2024. Artist Géraldine Honauer presents an AR/3D object combined with a unique scent, generated by algorithmic perfumery. The fragrance, composed of Isoamyl Acetate, Isobutyl Acetate, Benzyl Acetate, Jasmolactone, and Dipropylene Glycol (DPG), captures the essence of the banana.
The predominant banana variety, Cavendish, traces its origins back to an English greenhouse in the 1830s, during a time when exotic fruits were prized as symbols of status. Today, almost all bananas sold internationally are genetic clones of this original plant. In Totalbanana, the reproduction of bananas is taken to a new level of absurdity: through multiplication, abstraction, and transformation, the artwork oscillates between augmented reality snippets and an olfactory experience, transcending the physical object itself.
This ongoing NFT collection will manifest as performative ready-mades throughout the duration of the events and can only be collected as virtual souvenirs exclusively during its olfactory experience.
