What if the default practice of visual perception of gender was abandoned and humans communicated their gender and sexual identity, if required, instead of assuming it based on physical appearance? What if gender wasn’t binary as dictated by reproductive organs but an expression as infinite as the cosmos? What if sexuality wasn’t set in stone as an attraction to the opposite gender but a fluid montage of the feelings of the mind and heart? Wouldn’t that be a more equal and loving world to live in?
“Assumptions” aims to untangle the concepts of gender, sexuality and the restrictive practices associated with them by igniting these very questions in the mind of the viewer.
